国は、自分がつくったルールを守ったらどうだ、ということです。
今回の裁判所命令は違法です。
中国やソ連のような一党独裁の国なら、
あるいは裁判所命令も納得できたのかもしれません。
合衆国憲法修正第一条にうたわれる基本的な自由が否定されるなど、
そもそも自由を認めていない国家でしか、あってはならないことです。
どこかに書いてありましたよね、「集会の自由」だと。
どこかに書いてありましたよね、「言論の自由」だと。
どこかに書いてありましたよね、「出版の自由」だと。
どこかに書いてありましたよね、「《権利を請願する権利》こそ、アメリカ合衆国の素晴らしさ」だと。
犬を放たれようとも、放水をあびようとも、わたしたちをとめることは出来ません。
それと同じです。
こんな裁判所命令で、わたしたちの歩みを止めることは出来ません！

さて、これからどうなるでしょう。
分かりません。
困難の日々が待ち受けています。
しかし、もはやどうなろうとも、大したことでありません。
なぜなら私は......山の頂上へ行ってきたからです！
もう心配も消えました。
たしかに、私だって長生きしてみたい。
それは皆さんと同じです。
長生きも悪くないでしょう。
ですが、もはや気にしません。
ひたむきに神の御心に従いたいと思います。
神は山に登ることをお許しになり、
私は頂上から見おろしました。
そして見たのです。
約束の地を。
私は皆さんと共に行けないかもしれません。
しかし、いま、お伝えしたい。
私たち人民は必ずや〈約束の地〉に辿り着きます！
ですから、今宵とても安心しているのです。
もう案じることもありません。
もう人を怖れることもありません。
この眼で、主の降臨の栄光を見たのですから！
All we say to America is, "Be true to what you said on paper."
If I lived in China or even Russia, or any totalitarian country, maybe I could understand some of these illegal injunctions. Maybe I could understand the denial of certain basic First Amendment privileges because they hadn't committed themselves to that over there.
But somewhere I read of the freedom of assembly.
Somewhere I read of the freedom of speech.
Somewhere I read of the freedom of press.
Somewhere I read that the greatness of America is the right to protest for right.
And so just as I say, we aren't going to let dogs or water hoses turn us around, we aren't going to let any injunction turn us around!
Well, I don't know what will happen now. We've got some difficult days ahead. But it really doesn't matter with me now because I've been to the mountaintop.
I don't mind.
Like anybody, I would like to live a long life. Longevity has its place.
But I'm not concerned about that now.
I just want to do God's will.
And He's allowed me to go up to the mountain, and I've looked over.
And I've seen the Promised Land.
I may not get there with you, but I want you to know tonight, that we as a people will get to the promised land!
And so I'm happy, tonight.
I'm not worried about anything.
I'm not fearing any man.
My eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord!
